This year, OrangeBuddies again conducted research into consumer expectations for Black Friday. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, an important question was whether this will have an effect on the largest annual online shopping event. And how can retailers best deal with this? The research shows that consumers expect Black Friday 2020 to be at least as big as last year. Consumers’ buying intent is still the same for this event, although there has been a slight shift in popular products for Black Friday purchases. Based on the results of our research, we give retailers tips to boost sales during Black Friday 2020.
The Black Friday 2020 survey was conducted among nearly 5,000 active online shoppers in 8 countries (the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, England, Italy, Spain and Poland). Although the overall trend is similar in most countries, there are some notable differences between countries, which we highlight in the research report.
